Q.What is a Blue Pig?
A blue pig is a cross between a white pig and a black pig.In our case we cross a Gloucester Old Spots, a mainly white pig, with a Saddle Back, a mainly black pig. They are not bright blue! they come with all types of markings but typically they are a blue/grey in colour.
Q.What do you mean by "Free Range" Pork?
Our pigs graze and root outdoors in all weathers. We have pig arks for the pigs to take shelter if they wish. This is a system our granddad and his granddad would have recognised and thought of as common sense. Letting traditional pigs do what pigs want to do is good for the pig which is good for the farmer and it means they taste good. To find out more you can read about our philosophy here.
Q.How many pigs do you keep?
At present we have 10 breeding sows which have roughly 2 litters per year, with litters varying from 8-14 piglets. As we are constantly selling sausages etc we have around 100 fattening pigs roaming around at any one time. These vary from piglets a few days old to point of slaughter bacon pigs weighing over 100Kg.
Q.Can you supply a large order?
Yes, for domestic orders we can easily supply say a whole pig, as a large pig could produce in excess of 70Kg of meat we find that only those with the larger freezer can cope!.
Q. Do you have a minimum order value?
No we can send any size order, orders over £50 are delivered free of charge, however due to the cost of delivery, orders between £20 and £49.99 are charged £5 P&P. Orders below this will incur a P&P charge of £10.
Q.How do you send your products to ensure they arrive fresh?
